Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - West End is approximately 1.9 miles west of Downtown Pittsburgh, across the Ohio River. The library is located at the corner of Wabash Avenue and Neptune Street.

By Public Transit

Current schedules, fares and routes for public transit are available on the Port Authority of Allegheny County website. You can use their Trip Planner to find the next bus from your location to the library.

From Downtown:

1. Board a 26 Chartiers or 27 Fairywood bus outbound on Stanwix Street at Penn Avenue.
2. Leave the bus at the junction of Steuben Street and Wabash Avenue.
3. Walk two blocks on Wabash to the junction of Wabash and Neptune Street.

or

1. Board a 31 Bridgeville bus outbound on Liberty Avenue at the Grand Pittsburgh (formerly Hilton) Hotel.
2. Leave the bus at the junction of Wabash Avenue and South Main Street.
3. Walk one block on Wabash to the junction of Wabash and Neptune Street.

From Oakland:

Requires a transfer.

1. Board a 61A, 61B, 61C or 61D bus inbound on Forbes Avenue at South Craig Street.
2. Leave the bus on Forbes Avenue at Stanwix Street.
3. Board a 26 Chartiers or 27 Fairywood bus outbound on Stanwix Street at Penn Avenue.
4. Leave the bus at the junction of Steuben Street and Wabash Avenue.
5. Walk two blocks on Wabash to the junction of Wabash and Neptune Street.

By Automobile

Metered parking is available in a lot on Alexander St.

From Oakland:

1. Drive toward Downtown Pittsburgh on Fifth Avenue, past Craft Avenue and turn left following signs for the Parkway West (which merges with the Boulevard of the Allies).
2. Stay in the right lane and take the Parkway [I-376] entrance to downtown Pittsburgh.
3. Proceed on the Parkway East [I-376] to the Fort Pitt Bridge
4. Carefully get into the far right lane on the Fort Pitt Bridge and take the ramp to West Carson Street.
5. Proceed on West Carson Street to the West End Circle and go up the ramp.
6. Part way around the Circle, merge onto Steuben Street [Route 60].
7. Proceed straight on Steuben St.; then pass the first traffic light; and then turn left onto Wabash Avenue.

From the South:

1. Drive toward Downtown Pittsburgh on Washington Road, which becomes West Liberty Avenue, to Route 51 [Saw Mill Run Boulevard].
2. Turn left onto Route 51 [Saw Mill Run Boulevard] just before the Liberty Tunnel and proceed to the West End Circle.
3. Part way around the Circle, merge onto Steuben Street [Route 60].
4. Proceed straight on Steuben Street, then pass the first traffic light, and then turn left onto Wabash Avenue.

OR

1. Drive toward Downtown Pittsburgh on the Parkway [I-376] to the Fort Pitt Tunnel.
2. Take the West End exit to the West End Bypass.
3. Proceed along the West End Bypass to the West End Circle and go up the ramp.
4. Part way around the Circle, merge onto Steuben Street [Route 60].
5. Proceed straight on Steuben St.; then pass the first traffic light; and then turn left onto Wabash Avenue.

OR

1. Drive toward Downtown Pittsburgh on Baldwin Road to the Thornburg Bridge.
2. Cross the bridge to West Steuben Street.
3. Proceed on West Steuben Street to the intersection of Steuben Street and Wabash Avenue in the West End.
